Marriage Encounter can
‘tune up’ a relationship

Remember the spark between you and your
spouse during your courtship and early marriage? Remember how much you
enjoyed talking with your mate? Remember romantic times together, silently
gazing into each others eyes?
Romance need not be only
a memory. There is a proven way to rediscover your love and reenergize your
good marriage. Marriage Encounter, a Catholic experience that has been
renewing the sacrament of Matrimony for over 30 years, can provide the tools
you need to rekindle your fire.
Employers provide
workshops and training opportunities to enhance an employee’s job skills,
and we regularly take our cars to service people to help them perform at
their best. Yet most of us do little to “tune up” our marriage.
On a Marriage Encounter
Weekend, you will learn a new communication technique which you can continue
at home to enhance your understanding and respect for each other.
A team of three couples
and a priest share their experiences with you in a series of presentations.
Following the presentation, a question is offered to help you focus on and
share your thoughts and feelings about an area of your relationship.
Although there will be
several couples on your Weekend, it is really a private weekend for the two
of you. There is no group sharing or counseling. The Weekend gives couples
a chance to stop, talk and listen to each other.
The Marriage Encounter
weekend is not a counseling session for troubled marriages. It is an
opportunity for good marriages, with solid foundations, to become even
better. Marriage Encounter is open to couples of all faiths.
The two of us made our
Weekend 16 years ago, and with the exception of our wedding and the birth of
our three daughters, it was the most memorable and exciting experience of
our life together. We still have disagreements, but they are usually
short-lived and resolved with individual needs and feelings a priority.
Worldwide Marriage
Encounter is an international movement. Over five million couples, priests
and religious from around the world have participated.
